Legacy Aviation Services, a Twin Commander-authorized Service Center located in Yukon, Oklahoma, west of Oklahoma City, has been named one of Inc. magazine’s 5000 fastest-growing companies in the U.S. for 2009. Inc., which bills itself as “The Daily Resource for Entrepreneurs,” has been publishing a list of the 500 fastest-growing companies since 1982; this is the third year the magazine has expanded the list to the top 5000 companies.

The magazine selects and ranks companies based on percentage revenue growth from 2005 through 2008. According to Inc., “To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of 2005, and therefore able to show four full calendar years of sales. Additionally, they have to be U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2008.”

Legacy posted 174.3 percent growth in income over the four-year period, according to Inc., resulting in a ranking of 1826, putting it in the top 36 percent of the 5000 fastest-growing companies.

“All of the employees here at Legacy are very proud of how we have grown in such a short time,” noted Legacy President R.J. Gomez. Legacy is a full-service shop offering aircraft maintenance, repair, upgrades, paint, and interior refurbishment, but Gomez says much of the growth is due to its Twin Commander customers. “About 80 percent of our maintenance business is Twin Commanders,” he explained.

Legacy also received the Bronze Service Center of the Year award from Twin Commander Aircraft LLC at the 2009 Twin Commander University, held last may in Scottsdale, Arizona.
