Special discount pricing has been extended on a program to convert the Honeywell TPE331 engines that power 690-series Twin Commanders to higher-performance Dash 10T configuration. The limited-time discount represents a substantial reduction from the retail price of the popular engine upgrade.

The conversion involves upgrading the hot section of the engine to achieve a nearly 20-percent increase in thermodynamic rating. The Dash 10T version of the TPE331 can maintain maximum flat-rated power to about 16,000 feet in standard conditions, compared with about 10,000 feet for the standard Dash 5, and cruise at least 25 knots faster at altitude.

The special price for the complete two-engine conversion covers removal of the engines from the aircraft, upgrading the turbine sections with Dash 10T components and other engine modifications inherent in the conversion, upgrading the airframe with new parts to accommodate the reworked engines and, finally, the installation of the Dash 10T powerplants. The conversion is available for TPE331-5-powered 690A/B/C/D models.

Honeywell manufactured the TPE331-5-series engine and now produces Dash 10T components, but does not convert Dash 5 engines to Dash 10T configuration. That function is licensed by Honeywell to StandardAero.

StandardAero is the exclusive Honeywell Dash 10T engine conversion facility. Twin Commander Aircraft LLC provides the airframe conversion kit, and Twin Commander-authorized Dash 10T service centers remove the Dash 5 engines on customer aircraft and install the conversion kits and the upgraded Dash 10T powerplants.
